WHO WE ARE

Our Mission

Simply stated, our mission is to love God, love others, and serve humanity. But please do not mistake our simple mission statement to be shallowly simplistic. Oliver Wendell Homes, Jr. once said, “I wouldn’t give a fig for simplicity on this side of complexity. I would give my right arm for simplicity on the other side of complexity.” We at FCC Washington recognize that loving God naturally leads to loving others, and loving others is best demonstrated through sacrificial service. In our commitment to fulfilling the greatest commandment(s), we seek to continually grow in our knowledge of the depths of God’s love, and to express that love in real and concrete ways.

Our Core Values

Discipleship: Beyond membership, our primary objective is to grow and multiply Disciples. We are “Disciples First!”

Reconciliation: We are committed to breaking down the barriers that separate and alienate God’s children.

Open Table: We welcome all (yes all!) to celebrate communion just as God in Christ has welcomed us.

Small Groups: We are committed to utilizing small groups oriented toward common interests, common tasks, or common spiritual needs to develop fully devoted followers of Christ

Mission and Outreach: We are committed to reaching out to others with the life transforming love of God in concrete ways.

Giftedness: We sincerely believe that every Disciple is also a minister. We strive to provide opportunities to discover, celebrate, and utilize the gifts of every Disciple.

Transformation: The good news of God’s infinite love affects all areas of life – personal, social, individual, and communal.

Holy Spirit: We embrace and celebrate the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit in all that we do.

As members of the Christian Church, we confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and proclaim him Lord and Savior of the world.
