Rev. Jacob W. Kines Jr., was born in Atlanta and grew up in Rome, Ga., a beautiful and historic town not unlike Washington. Jacob received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Philosophy from Berry College and his Master of Divinity degree from Emory University. He also received a Ph.D. from the University of Denver and Iliff School of Theology with a concentration in Religion and Social Change. Jacob began his pastoral ministry in 2001 and was ordained in 2006. His primary areas of focus include preaching, teaching, and transformational leadership.
On a more personal note, Jacob is married to Valerie Meadors Kines, who serves as the Executive Director with Ruth’s House, a shelter for victims of domestic violence. Jacob and Valerie stay busy with their three amazing children, Kate, Sam, and Evie, and the menace to their neighborhood, “Caroline”, their incorrigible lab.
